Default Daisy Chain MBox 3 Pro - PLEASE HELP

I have two Mbox Pro's and was under the impression that you can connect two Mbox Pro's using firewire and connect it to a single computer. When I have both mbox's connected it won't show up as a Playback Engine. PLEASE HELP this is driving me crazy.

I'm not aware that you can do this, I have the MBox 3 Pro and there is nothing in the manual about doing this.

You can daisy chain another device like a Hard Drive onto the MBox via Firewire.

I've never tried another interface, but it would depend on the MBOX driver being able to see multiple instances of the interfaces to be able to present them to OSX.

When you have both MBOX's connected what does the MBOX Pro software/driver show you ?

The way to get more interfaces into Pro Tools since PT9 is using Aggregate I/O from the Playback Engine which allows you combine multiple interfaces, but this would depend on the drivers being able to see the devices.

The only thing you could do to run both mboxs at the same time is to run one as the interface and the other in one of its three stand alone modes. The most practical being AD/DA mode where you are adding two inputs and two outputs connected via SPDF. Just be sure to ethier slave your interface mbox to the stand alone mbox's clock via the software, or simply clock the stand alone one to the interface one by clicking the multi button until the light is flashing.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure what the next best move is but at least I know what my options are. Thanks.

If you can synch the two units using word clock: one as master the other as slave then you should be able to use the agregate device function in hardware set up.

There are videos about this on youtube !

Your solution may be closer than you think. The word clock is key !
