Faders won't move and no audio, yet still controls session?

Hi guys,

I've been using Command 8 happily for over a year and now all of the sudden when I boot up the Command 8 everything shows on the display and I can use all the tracking buttons (play, stop, rewind etc) but all the faders remain at the bottom on zero. Also, there is no sound getting to monitors that are connected to the outputs of the Command 8 - there is even a higher hiss on the right channel, oddly.

Additionally, when I first switch on the Command 8 and it goes through it's initialisation (start-up check), the faders which normally move up then down, do not at all. I have updated the firmware (at least, the version I could find) and again it communicates well with pro tools (9 LE) and my 003R, but no fader or volume action.

Any ideas? This has happened at a crucial and urgent time, damn it.

Sorry, but are there no ideas or suggestions here? This is terribly frustrating; not least of all because I can't even use the monitor section of the command 8 to control the nearfields hooked up to its output.
