Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
No viruses, and DigiTest checks out ok too.
Is there any explanation for this: 1. Crash trying to use Focusrite EQ plugin. 2. Crash during session load. 3. Crash loading insert "Comp 1" during session load. 4. Crash between finishing a bounce and doing the conversion. 5. Crash when choosing to switch to the previous playback engine. Something is causing these events, otherwise they wouldn't be happening. Any suggestions?

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
At this point, I would figure that this behavior is being caused by unhealthy drives.
What utility did you use to format the drive? What drives are you using: ATA, SCSI? If SCSI, what SCSI card? In the meantime, Run Disk Warrior (or something similar) and see what it reports. Brent |

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
I've been having problems with PT crashes when I close sessions as well. I have the latest version of PTHD. In my case, it seems to be a Waves conflict with plugins using directconnect. Check this out on your system as well. If I have just directconnect, softsamplecell, stereomixer & the Waveshell 3.5 in my DAE folder, PT will crash on closing when having a Waves plugin instantiated. It doesn't matter which Waves plugin, and it only seems to crash when a waves plugin has been instantiated. No other plugins seems to bother for me. I've contacted both Digi & Waves. Digi takes the attitude that it's a Waves problem. Waves doesn't seem able to create the same conflict in their system so they're saying it's a problem with my system. But hearing that someone else is having this problem gives me hope that it's just not me. Give me a shout if you find a similar conflict......

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
Brent,
I have used both Disk First Aid and Norton Utilities on my drives. Neither found any problems. I have also scanned for viruses, and found none. I am using an ATA drive, and the drive was formatted using Drive Setup. A firewire drive, in the chain or not, is not making a difference. Hence, my drives are not causing this. For the Waves user, removing DirectConnect has, for the moment, migrated the problem from Waves to other plugins. Digi, make a note of that. DirectConnect was interacting with Waves 3 in some fashion to cause some of these troubles.

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
I had similar problems when I upgraded to 5.1.+ and OS 9.+
It was my Adaptec scsi card. Adaptec doesn't like 9+ I went to ATTO and that fixed the problem. I spent hours on answer base until I found it. I still had a session or two that was corrupted after that though. Hope this helps. |

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
Chief... is your system drive fragmented? I had the same problems until I ran SpeedDisk. Disk Doctor and Disk Warrior both found nothing, but my System Drive (MacintoshHD) had SEVERE fragmentation. Ran Speed Disk, all is well.

Re: Pro Tools v5.1.3 Crash When Closing Session
Rob,
I'm not using SCSI. Internal ATA & Firewire all the way! Thanks for the suggestion though.
