Default OMF Import/Export with PT5.3HD?

What happened to the DigiTranslator 2.0 which was built into ProTools 5.1.3, but doesn't seem to be available in PT5.3 HD?

How is one to import or export sessions to OMF?

DigiTranslator 1 for now . 5.3 is just a HD release. There'll be a release soon that should include DT2, MediaNet, Digistudio and HD support all in one.

No it doesn't you'll just need to save as.
OMF "is" a standard, so yes you can open it in any OMF supporting application.

LittleRobot,

My Digitranslator software is not able to recognize PT5.3 files for me to convert to OMF. It only recognizes PT5 session files.

In your PT 5.3 sesion, go to File>Save Session Copy In... and save the session as a Pro Tools 5 session.

Will the 5.3 compatible version of DigiTranslator be part of the HD owners' package, or a seperate purchase? Digi?

That's what I've been doing. But I just wanted to know why PT5.3's OMF has been removed, and why DigiTrans 1.x couldn't "see" PT5.3 sessions.

Things are getting very messy at the moment. We have PT5.2, PT5.1.3 (with DIgiTrans 2.0) and PT5.3 (with nothing).

Boring.

Not to fear, DigiTranslator will continue to be integrated into the Pro Tools application. It is not included in Pro Tools 5.3 because it is considered part of the "Interoperability" suite, along with AVoption|XL, FilmFrame, PostConform, and Unity MediaNet support. Because these features are post-centric, we hold them out of "initial" releases so that we can get the initial releases out to the masses earlier, and to give us more development time to make sure they work well straight out of the box. I know the delay is a pain, but we know how critical post-production schedules are, so we include these items in a follow-up release that allows us to completely focus on these features.

And yes, your current authorizations for DigiTranslator 2.0 will be valid for Pro Tools|HD, so no worries there.

Thanks, Gordon
