Default HFS Disk Management (real world applications)

I know that Digi does not support the formating of HFS disks on a windows machine to be a record volume and that it is Transfer only, BUT, has anyone had success formating a HFS drive inside windows to be used under OSX?
I have a session tonight on an old G4 and would rather have the drive ready to go instead of having to format it at the studio.
Thoughts or experiences?

Pro Tools 7.3 has full support for HFS+ drives. You can use them as Record drives.

Thank you very much Rail, but just to clarify, I can format a HFS drive at home on my windows machine and take it to a mac and it will be a record volume? Forgive my mac stupidness here. I can run PT on them, but when it comes to knowing them, I dont

I format them on my Mac - I suggest you do too. You can then record on them on both platforms.

MacDrive does allow you to format them on XP but I've never tried that. If you have MacDrive installed don't install the 7.3 HFS+ support.

Rail, I took your advice, and HFS support works without a hitch. Amazing. I think becuase I spend so much time burning DVD's and then importing sessions ( I get almost all my sessions from PT on OSX), I will just work on HFS drives from here on out.
I did have mac drive but it was so flaky on my system (Tyan Quad) that I ditched it unless I really needed it.

Did DIGI just Licence the software, or did they create their own? Just curious. Not a need to know answer I guess.

Thanks for taking the time Rail.
