Dual screen setup help please.
I've connected a second monitor to the output on my graphics card, HD 2600, but can't get a picture.
Do i need to set anything up beforehand? The second monitor is a different resolution, is this the problem? |

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
The output of the card has to be configured. Sometimes simply rebooting with the both monitors attached will do it if the card is smart enough to see that it has two connections, otherwise go to the desktop, R-Click and select Properties - the select Settings and you should see the configuration options.

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
Tried the reboot first but nothing, second screen remains on standby.
Right-clicked into display properties/settings, checked the "Extend my windows desktop" box then apply but still nothing. Reset again but second screen remains on standby and display properties/settings has been reset. Any ideas? |

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
It sounds like you are having problems just getting the second screen working. Have you followed the dual-screen instructions for your graphics card? Do you have the right drivers for your graphics card?
You might want to check the ATI forums for help getting dual screens working for your specific card. Before we can help you with Pro Tools on two screens, you need to actually have the computer working on two screens.

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
Your Video card must be designed to handle two monitors, not any card can do this. Some cards my have dual outputs but these are just analog and digital and can not be used independently. If your card do handle dual monitors then the "...display properties/settings" is the place to configure it. Do you know your card can do this??

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
Yes, it can control 2 monitors in display properties/settings i can click on "1" or "2" and select resolution, bit depth etc.
I'll try ATI forums. |

Re: Dual screen setup help please.
Discovered the problem, it's the new DVI to VGA converter - it has more pins than the 1 i'm using on my primary screen so somehow isn't compatible.
