error message help! 'digidesign hardware in use by..."

we recently wiped our computer and reloaded all of our programs from scratch. After installing Pro-Tools LE, we cannot get it to open into the main screen. Instead, as it goes through the startup process, we get an error message that says "digidesign hardware in use by another application. (-1133)". Um.. what? The status bar under the load up screen just sticks at "Launching DAE".

There are no other programs on our computer running, and no other applications that might be using the core-audio-driver are running. any idea what is going on? Any words of wisdom for the new guy?

You probably are running an incorrect version of Pro Tools for your OS version.

hmmm... how would i know if that is the case, and then how would I correct it?

I've installed LE 6.7 and my OS is OSX 10.4.9. I went ahead and installed the combo bundle update that is recommended in the stickies.

6.7 isn't compatible with 10.4. You need at least 6.9.2 for that.

so... my choices are to either buy a new version of pro tools LE, or downgrade my OS?

Actually, i just found the 6.9.2 update section on the digidesign website. So, basically I should just download that and install the update? is that all I need to do? thanks for the help fellas.
