Default Time Machine Session Won't Open on New MacBook Pro

Hi,

I have a new MacBook Pro 15 inch running Pro Tools 19.6. I have many sessions on my old computer (Mac Pro running Pro Tools 10.9.5). My backed up Time Machine sessions open fine on my old computer but when I open them on the new MacBook Pro I get the:

"Could not complete your request because You do not have appropriate access privileges (1) while opening "Let It Go 2 Jan 2019.ptx".

Copying the folder to the desktop doesn't help as the audio files are missing when the session opens.

Is there a fix for this or should I simply copy everything from my audio drive on the Mac Pro to a new thunderbolt Drive?

Thank you

The sessions and their content are where? And you restored them from Time Machine and are trying to open them? What exactly are you doing? Why are audio files missing? Why are you dragging and dropping a single .ptx file and not a whole session folder? Hopefully you have your content arranged with media in the same folder as the session file (if not time to think about doing that). Where exactly is the content for this session? Is content actually on the external Time Machine disk or is it actually all on the other Mac? (and sessions run there find that content?)

You possibly have created an account on the new Mac with a numerical uid (User ID) different than the uid on the old Mac that owns all those files. It does not matter that names match, what matters is the numeric value matches. But you want both to match for convenience. I would fix this by changing the uid of the account on the new mac to be the same as on the old Mac. e.g. see. https://www.inteller.net/notes/chang...n-snow-leopard. Your group id/group membership should probably be the same as well. I'll leave that to your googling foo.

The sessions and content are on an audio drive in my MacPro and backed up on time machine on another external drive. I was hoping I could plug the external drive directly into my new MacBook Pro and open sessions which has not worked.

I will likely just copy the entire on a new Thunderbolt drive and forget the Time Machine files as they aren't opening properly as stated before. FWIW I was dragging the entire folder, not just the ptx file with audio file folder there and still wasn't able to make it work.

There is an issue with Time Machine backed up Pro Tools files moving to a newer computer.

If both machines are on the same network set up file sharing, or grab a USB stick to copy stuff over on.

But sort out your uid and gids first.

I am not aware of any time machine issues of, but it is not clear how exactly you are you trying to recover files, is that through time machine or directly grabbing files off the drive image. You need to sort this out... you may not actually have the backups you think you do.
