Default trash digi database ?

Running PT 7.3.1 HD2. G5 PPC, with 2 external 500 gig FW drives. When closing and saving sessions to the #1 drive it takes 3-4 mins. when closing and save to drive # 2 takes less than 1 min. Mac disk utilites reports drive#1 as no problems.I want to trash the digi database on the #1 drive to see if that helps. My question is when I open sessions on the #1 drive after I trash digi database will I have to re-link and find all file again for each session ?
