Default Punch In Record w/ footswitch on the Mbox Studio

As far as the Mbox Studio interface, am I able to record punch in and out with the footswitch jack on this device like the Mbox 3 pro? Thanks everybody!

Tony

Sadly, this detail is missing(and I have been complaining for months). You have 2 solutions for now:
1-add a Presonus Faderport to your setup(it has a foot switch jack for quick-punch), which actually brings a lot more than you might think, especially if you pair that with neyrinck's V-Control Pro software(must get the Faderport V2 for this).
2-learn how to do auto-punch. The quick lesson is to enable a bar pre-roll, place the cursor exactly where you want to punch in, enter Record(playback will start 2 bars early and put you in Record at the spot you selected. Also, don't foget you can use Loop Record and(in Preferences) set PT to create a new playlist with each pass

Wow.... this is insane.... This should be par for the course to add that feature... Are you saying to add the fader port into the mbox or just use the fader port?

Mbox 3 pro supports both quick punch and Midi punch correct? Do you think there may be a work around on the midi punch on the Mbox Studio to still make it possible at this time?

Thank you for your support!!

@ albee1952 I see what your saying about the fader port.... its a control surface for DAWs. I still wonder if the midi assignments for the footswitch on the Mbox studio can be used for punch ( a control midi message?)... You've obviously have researched this topic... We may have to wait for the firmware update for the Mbox studio to address this( if they even will?)

Thank you again!!

@albee1952

Dave, I followed your advice on getting a faderport for the MBOX Studio... So far the HUI default for the footswitch is just Start/Stop... How did you program the footswitch for record? Thank you!

PS I have not gotten in to the V Control software yet

Best to start at the neyrink site and their videos. Then, join the users group on facebook as Paul trolls there a lot with quick help. I seem to remember there is something in the V-Control software to change but I can't remember at the moment. Paul helped me get it going as I think I was the first one to ask for this feature(and he delivered in barely a day!). PM me a reminder if you hit a wall as I can probably get to it over this weekend.

@albee1952

Dave,
Thank you for your fast reply. After I wrote you I kept on searching and I found you talking on another thread about that and how Paul helped you out.. that was cool. Thank you!

I also got a response from Presonus themselves and they told me to just hold down the shift button (holding it down until it lights up) I fired up pro tools 2024 and I am now able to use the foot switch to use the record button.. I don’t know if you discovered that or not. maybe that was part of an update…

Yes! I will join the Neyrink Facebook group and he’s got a lot of great innovative things going on with his products. You guys are a great help as I progress updating this whole system . Thank you so much!

Hmmm, that's interesting. It works by default here and SHIFT doesn't affect that at all. Maybe I am still working off some earlier code. In any case, glad they got you going
