Default Re: Record to internal drive?

My latest external drive journey.

Heard this combo is the latest and greatest (980 Pro in Acasis TB 4 enclosure).

I thought I'd pair these drives up with my M1 iMac with TB 4.

However I don't see a huge boost in performance, as far as VIs go at least..

I upgraded from T7s to be exact.

Overkill?

“Discussed many times before” boy that might be an understatement. Here goes, whatever floats your boat so to speak.
Portability vs form factor. For the laptop user who doesn’t like to tinker with additional dodadds and externals record to internal with disk cache on and risk frying your silicon on a chip. I personally prefer to run two externals; one for samples and the other for sessions. I’m able to run a very fast Sata about 4 tb worth for a fraction of the cost for sessions. And an ssd off thunderbolt for samples. Less taxing on the system. Originally sessions were run off of Sata drives. Can easily run 100 tracks or more of audio to this day.
