Default New mac, new protools?

Hi all
I'm hoping you can help.

I have been running ProTools 10 (bought 9 and got an upgrade to 10) on my old imac for the last 5 years.
iMac finally gave up the ghost last week and I've had to buy a new one.
Now, on my old Mac, i was advised to not update the OS, so it was on Mountain Lion. The new Mac however is running High Sierra.
So, question...
Am I able to just re-download and carry on using PT10, or do I have to upgrade to PT12?
And if I do have to upgrade to PT 12, how do I do it? Do I do it on the Avid website and pay £240 for the ProTools Upgrade and Reinstatment plan, or do I do it as a first time buyer, which seems to only be £20.75 for the year?
And either way, what do I do with my current iLok? Will I need to buy a new license for that? How does that work?

Sorry, got myself into a bit of a mind melt over this and looking for some straight forward advice. Can you help? I hope so!

Thanks Jane

Removed your duplicate threads in the licensing and PT|First sections as it it against forum rules to duplicate threads in multiple sections so please stick to this thread as spread out answers (posts) in different places wont help anyone.

Hi,

I'll let some of the others answer some of your other questions, but as to what version of PT you will need, I can tell you that you will need the current version. No version earlier than 12.8.3 is actually qualified for High Sierra.

Take care.

Ok, thanks.
Sorry for the multiple threads thing. Wasn't sure where best to put it.

So I'll need the new version, that's cool.

If I buy the new version from Avid website, does that also inclkude the licence for the ilok, or is that a separate purchase?

You need to buy the update from PT10 to PT 2018 (12) and for that you get the license of course which you place on the ilok.

If you have the old green iLok key you need to buy a new iLok2 or the new iLok3 as the green key shaped iLok1 doesn't work with PT11 and above.

Also the plan you need to get to PT 2018.1 is the $299 one and with that you get a one year annualplan included which includes updates and support.

See this chart and look at the "I have PT10" column:

https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/pr...upgrade-chart/

Same prices as Avid website and you can buy here or at Avid.com

Good Luck.

Did you get the PM I sent you? I didn't want to derail this thread but I had some questions about your old iMac.
