Default How to make volume automation to follow moved or cut clips

Hi there hermit companions,

SHORT STORY
So, just like the title states I need to know how to:
make the volume automation(s) to follow/stick to the moved, cut, nudged or Ctrl+D-pushed clips without having them just remaining where they are, unaffected.

LONG STORY
This is one of the problems that return at irregular intervals, once every few years really, "out of the blue" when you're working just as usual "assuming" that the automation and all kinds of relevant belonging rides in the background are sticking glued to the clips.

Of course you are not even putting a thought on that because it seems absolutely logical and then obvious to be a default setting/way of software design. (And well, maybe it is right after a fresh install of Pro Tools, I haven't checked.)

But then you realize that maybe it isn't the case at all and you have to spend hours or a whole day doing a purest detective work to bring the ensued havoc that emerged in the background (in this case in the Volume automation mode) back to the previous proper state.

I'm sorry if this is obvious but there is an "Automation Follows Edit" button on the toolbar. This is its sole function.

(There are plenty of use cases where you don't want that hence the button)

Probably not! Seems to be a new user.

Basically, the "button" which smurfyou mentions is among a group of buttons which comprise some basic "edit modes" which you can also see in the "Options" menu:

Check these out and get familiar and they will make convoluted seeming things suddenly simpler.

Hope for humanity restored temporarily, as well as misanthropy temporarily reduced!

Thanx a lot guys. And men..., such an easy solution. This button is one of those I've never used, but very often clicked on accidentally. There of the problem's occurrence.

For the "record", I am not even close to being a new user. Unless nednednerb didn't mean new here on the forum. Then oh so very Yes! That alone leaves an immense field for wonderings... Why? Well, I have been working with Pro Tools in 25 years! So I am actually a veteran :) But as you see, even old geeks have holes in their knowledge. (And the brain for that matter.) An those are many! Anyway, I am glad to finally have breaken this anomaly. I will be a frequent visitor as well as contributor on this forum.

You are right! "Might be a new user" would be better wording.

As you explain, it was the "that one button I can't find" effect!

Cheers,
