Default How do feel about normalizing?

Any thoughts?
I recently finished a project in which i used the audiosuite gain plug in on certain regions within a playlist and wondered how much (if any) of a compromise this is.Didn't actually normalize and didn't hear anything wrong with doing it this way but is there anything I should be aware of?
Appreciate any comments in this area.
Cheers

Just beware of the increased noise floor when normalizing, as every part in the waveform increases in relation to it's peak, which is raised to the highest level before clipping occurs.

I agree with PK hat, but if you're going to be turning up the volume on that channel anyway, you'll be increasing the noise floor as well.. The best way is to make sure you get a decently hot signal to begin with, but normalizing should be fine..
