OS X Tiger Upgrade Issues and Compatability for 7.3 (PPC G4)
I was advised to get a full install of Tiger 10.4 to upgrade from 10.2 because my machine has a 'Window' feature of some kind requiring special software. My Mac is a Mac G4 Workstation with Dual PPC 1.42 Ghz processors. She (sales rep) indicated the processor speed will indicate whether this specialized software is required.
So, I have purchased the full install online and will need to know precisely how to go about configuring the OS X. There are two hard drives on the workstation and one is necessary to upgrade and the other is not, but the second drive is what I was planning on using as storage for the Protools files. Is it recommended to do this install onto one hard drive which is dedicated to running Protools and storing its data? Is there some better way ?
The install purchased is for 10.4.7, which I understand is one CD for the 10.4 install and then an upgrade disc to install 10.4.7 . Should I even bother to upgrade it to 10.4.7, if this is the case? The website of Protools says that 10.4 is compatible with 7.3, so I am wondering which would be advisable?
Thanks very much.
