Default Which Midi Keyboard Controller?

Hey guys!

Just purchased an intel MacBook Pro with PT 7.4 with all the digidesign VIs - ie Strike, structure, velevet, hybrid and Xpand! etc and am looking for the best Controller Keyboard I can find that will run with PT and interface with these VIs.

I am interested in the new CME VX series and the M-Audio Axiom 61 - but am open to any suggestions...

Has anyone used these keyboards with the digi VIs or can anyone recommend a controller keyboard that would integrate into my system?

Cheers

Paul

I've seen promotional videos on a few of those plugins where they were using the Axiom. Don't know if that helps any, but I would think to promote a plugin, they would use the best controller for better sales results.

I use the M-Audio Axiom 49 and it works perfectly with PT, provided you install the JL cooper controller thingy. Preset 1 controls my transport and mixer (tracks 1-8) and preset 2 controls the plugs, (mixer 1-9 setting now correspond to the mixer style control plug - rotary work the rotary, but they don't always correspond to the most obvious control) You will still need to map them a little.

Currently, I use the M-Audio KeyStation 61es, and (like you), I am limited on what I can/cannot do...but it does a nice job.

After watching several of the Digidesign video tutorials, I noted that Phil Jackson (in his "Pro Tools Accelerated Videos") uses an M-Audio Axiom.

Based on what I've seen and heard him do, as well as some serious research and questions to vendors, I decided to buy the Axiom 61.

It is currently back-ordered, and I assume that a lot of people like you and me have figured out it is a versatile keyboard.

Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

I have the Axiom-61 and have had no problems. I purchased the Axion and a computer from Sweetwater together and they set them both up before shipping them out. No complaints here so far.

If you have the cash then the axiom is great, semi weigthed keys and plenty of knobs to twist. On a lower budget i'd recommend the M-audio oxygen series, i have the 61 version and it works great with LE. It doesn't even need any usb drivers its 100% plug and play.

Cheers
