Default The infamous Pro Tools "Play and Stop" plague

Yup. It strikes once again. I reinstalled (10.3.7), I don't have any cracked stuff, did all the optimization or so I think. It keeps screwing up my workflow.

Anybody cares to check my sandra report, maybe something's wrong in my bios or something...

Thanks in advance

SiSoftware Sandra

What interface? Is it firewire? Some Asus onboard FW controllers don't work. Is Wait for Midi Note enabled? Dynamic Transport enabled?

Interface information is very important. In my case, and many cases I've seen the fix is to toggle the buffer size in the interface mix software. If it's a focusrite interface, make sure you have the latest driver. THeir newest driver solved this problem for me.

By toggle buffer size, I mean, change it from whatever it is, and change it back.

Thanks guys for giving a [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]! In fact I have an Mbox3 with latest drivers. I use AKAI MPK61 for Midi Control. Native instruments work real good and other stuff too. Strange that the ONLY thing working wrong is the software that is supposed to be optimal for the Mbox.

I agree that if you toggle the buffer size it almost always works. Unless I have messed something, in which case I apologize to AVID at this point, I do not find any acknowledgment by AVID that this is a "confirmed bug" and "We [AVID] are working on it".

In addition, I do not find any acknowledgment by AVID that the "screen freeze" but "session keeps playing in the background" is a "confirmed bug" and "We [AVID] are working on it".

And just to make certain that I am not the culprit of my own problems, I have gone though all of the typical troubleshooting including:
- removing my plugins folders (used and unused)
- clean uninstall
- delete: PT preferences, DAE preferences, etc.
- reinstall PT 10.3.x
- reinstall drivers for 002
- reinstall OS 10.6.8 (and also reinstall OS 10.7.6 on another drive)
- Disk Utility for Disk Repair (was not needed on either drive) and Repair Permissions on both drives
- NOT reinstalling ANY 3rd party plugins
- tried all above with PT 10.3.3, 10.3.7, 10.3.6, and finally settled on 10.3.5 because I do not get the ["screen freeze" with "session continuing in the background"] as often with 10.3.5.

OK . . . what did I miss . . . maybe something maybe nothing? AVID it would be great if you would . . . well, it would be good to have a progress report if there is one or if AVID considers these NOT to be an issue. It is hard to know when we do not hear from you.

Sorry for all the background info but PT 9.0.6 keeps looking better and better, and that is a shame that I would even be considering such as a choice.
