I highly recommend AIT ($2000). I've been using it hard every day for months and never a problem. Backup speed is 150-200 meg/min. and the tapes can hold 25 gig. I wish everything worked this good.

I have to agree with Steve on this one.....
I've had the highest transfer rate with AIT..
I got 250mB/min.....pure bliss.......
otherwise:-
Exabyte approx 60 mB/min
DDS3 ... 70 ....
DVD-RAM .. 40 ....

etc ...etc....

Regards

Ade

What software are you guys using for backup? Anyone mounting tapes using DeskTape (or something else) and using the 'Save Session Copy In' command?

We saw an impressive demo by Grey Matter Response of their Mezzo software here at Digi recently. Mezzo supports many archiving devices in a variety of formats such as AIT, DLT, Exabyte and others. You can check them out for yourself here: http://www.mezzogmr.com/

We have been using Mezzo, with exabyte for a while. It works great, very fast, very reliable. The cool thing with mezzo, is it reads the PT session, so all you have to do is drag the session icon onto mezzo, and it will find all the audio files used, not matter what folders they are in, it will also find the QT movies. So yo don't have to worry about a thing.
On a different note,we had really bad experience with scsi dat. besides the fact that is lost stuff, we found that tapes made on one drive , were never readable by any other drive, which made wonder what would happen if a drive failed. Dat in any form has never been the most robust format.

cheers
Ramesh
