Monitoring on speakers
Hi guys,
this might be an obvious fix but i can't figure it out. I would like to know how to moniter my .ptf files through my external speakers (ie. the ones i will use for listening to music or youtube videos), so i can swich between my headphones and speakers. my headphones are plugged directly into my m-box mini so i can hear my playback, but can't work out to hear it on my normal speakers. Atm if I want to hear what it will sound like through my speakers i have to bounce it to .aiff which is a pain. Is there a way around this? Thanks |

Re: Monitoring on speakers
Tell me if I'm wrong but I presume from what I've read, your speakers (monitors) are plugged in your computer soundcard. If you want to hear your protools "in session" you MUST plug your monitors to (from) your MBox thru the...monitors or Main Out L and R.
If you have decent monitors you should plug'em with a balanced jack to jack or jack to XLR depending on the type, sometimes monitors have combo sockets but most of the time balanced. This way you'll still be able to hear your computer sound (iTunes, Internet...) Then you can define your MBox as the default soundcard and you can and should disable the computer soundcard. I forgot to tell you... If you use speakers thru a stereo or an amp, you can get some adapters (RCA female-Jack male). Hope it'll work!

Re: Monitoring on speakers
if your gonna use computer speakers to monitor your sessions during mixing and mastering I suggest getting small decent one speaker computer speakers with no tweeters and plug them into your interface via adapters from radio shack or your local music store so that when you mix, if you hear lets say the drums and guitars and bass vox etc and it sounds balanced and clear you will probably get a good mix when you hear it through nicer speakers.
