003R + Command 8

im planning to jump into the protools world near the end of this year, and have been looking at different options i may have to do so. i plan to get an 003R and use it with a Command 8 interface. would there be any advantages of instead just getting the 003 console? does the 003 console offer anything more that you cant do with the rack version with a command8?

As far as I know, the only thing the Console can do extra, is stand alone mixer mode.
Never had any need for that, since I already have one 12 channel and one 48 channel mixer, so I went for the 002R back when i left the Logic wagon 3 years ago

The 002R with Command 8 is a great combo, and when I record on location it´s nice to just have a small rack with the 002r and an extra ADAT preamp, not needing the extra space a console would require.

I don:t think the 003 console operates as a stand alone mixer, whereas the 002 console does.
I cant comment on the command 8

The 003 has the new jog wheel. The Command 8 does not.

The 003 has the new MIDI mode.



I love my 002R + Command 8 combo, though. If they come out with a new control surface the same features as the 003, I would consider selling the command 8 and upgrading.
