Importing audio from cd
I'd like to have all my audio tracks from my sample cd right there on my hard disk (it seems so slow taking them one by one from the cd), but when I drop the cd icon onto the 'HD' icon, only the "image" is copied.
Do I have to do it track by track? Hope this makes sense, Thanks, Mac |

Re: Importing audio from cd
You have to select the contents of the CD, then drag them to your HD. I'm assuming you're on OSX of course.
If you're still having problems - is this an audio cd or a data cd? What OS are you on? |

Re: Importing audio from cd
Maybe you need to convert the files before importing them to Pro Tools. If you have Toast just drag the CD in and use the "extract" feature to do this.
Hope this helps.

Re: Importing audio from cd
You can import directly to PT by using the "Import Audio From Other Movie" option under the Movie menu. You have to jump a few hurdles, but it works.

Re: Importing audio from cd
Hey macs100,
Since you're still in OS9, check out SoundApp. A great little freeware converter that'll handle almost any format you can through at it! Aqui!

Re: Importing audio from cd
I believe you just want to put the contents of an Audio CD on your hard drive, right? Yes, you'd think it would be simpler. If you have Toast, it comes with an extra utility called CD Audio Extractor. It works pretty well. But it's a one-at-a-time thing.
I installed iTunes the other day, and I'd bet this will let you copy an entire CD at once... just make sure it's not set to convert everything to MP3, which I think is the default. Pretty sure you can create .wav files. Lastly, as someone else said, if you're working in ProTools you can go to Movie>Import Audio from Other Movie to convert the CD one track at a time. I like Toast's Extractor better. |

Re: Importing audio from cd
Hi guys,
Thanks for all the great suggestions. I shall play around with SoundApp and also check out iTunes more carefully - I just got it recently too and assumed it extracted one track at a time... Sorry if it seems like a minor problem, but sometimes it's the little things that bug! : ) All the best, Mac |
