Default Function Keys
I had to re-install all my software 6 months ago and eversince I did this I forgot how to re-implement the Function keys in PT LE 5.1.1, I used to do it all the time.
F1-F4 were for grid, spot, shuffle.....modes and the editing tools were F5-.......

Anyone know how to get this going again?

control panels -> keyboard -> turn off function keys (so the mac won't try to use them). Then they'll function in ProTools.

What about for a Windows laptop? All the replies to this issue that I’ve seen relate to Macs.

Huh?! Dragging out an 18 year old thread is not the way to get an answer to your question. Start a new thread and explain exactly what is happening(or NOT happening) now. What works and what doesn't work?
