I'm currently running power for the HDX card off one of the unused SATA bays. But the optical bay is even slicker and I'm going to swap over the next time I have the Mac Pro out of the rack. You should have the molex connectors for the optical bay power included with your HDX card.

Thanks for the link and tip. I am curious to know if the mapro mid 2012 power supply is enough to power both the HDX and RX 580 at the same time without too much heat, but will definitely look into this.
