Default Mac Pro Quad: lights on - no one home?

Hi folks.

Since installing my new HD1 (w 96i/o) yesterday, once in a while I power on my Mac and it just sits there with the pwr light on, but not booting up. No display or anything. I have to hold the pwr button for 5 sec, and then wait 1min, and then the second time always works.

I'm a Mac newbie too, so be gentle!

Any ideas?

thanks

First troubleshooting step: try pulling the PT card(s) and see if things get better or stay the same.

You should contact tech support by phone for troubleshooting this.

as my employer did! :) and it was suggested, like joeshepard said, that a card is causing the problem. i don't remember being told how it causes the problem though. we just got used to turning our Quad on twice every morning.

Do you have the card in the right slot? Should be the first slot.
