Default Digi 003 Rack Audio Playback Issue

Hi there, I'm having issues with my old Digi 003 Rack. When I monitor through my DAW there's loads of latency and if I play back what I've recorded it seizes up and plays small chunks of the audio intermittently. It seems to record just fine with monitoring off and when I listen to what I've recorded using a different interface there's no problems there either. It seems to me that there's a problem with the D/A conversion, is there a setting that I've missed perhaps? Problems with clicks & pops in Windows too.

Going to need a lot more info before anyone can really advice. Full specs on the computer, the exact OS, the exact version of Pro Tools are the very least. Posting a Sandra Lite report is a good idea(read the link above called Help Us Help You for details on that).

After that, how big is the session? What is the Playback buffer set to? What plugins are in use(especially on the Master track, if you have one yet)

Thanks for your reply. I've just fired up the Sandra report software and it seems that it takes a while, don't really have time at the moment. I'll give it a go this evening. I'm not actually using PT I'm on Reaper.

Hmmm, that may be an issue. Consider:
#1-Avid's drivers don't handle multiple clients well, so go to Windows Sound Properties and set the default playback device to the on-board sound card(Realtek?). This will allow Reaper to have total control of the 003.
#2-my opinion only, but Avid hardware is great with Pro Tools, but not so great with other DAW's(again, just my opinion)

Given the age of the 003, you might be better off selling it and buying a modern USB interface(RME, Focusrite, Presonus, etc)
