Artist Mix freezed , Eucon 2.62

Mac Nehalem 8 core , 8 gb Ram
OS 10.68
PT 10.2 HD , HD Accel 2
Eucon 2.62 , Avid Artist Mix (the new black one ) , latest Firmware.

Yesterday , while recording , the Artist Mix
freezed two times completely while Protools itself was responsive.
The Mix Unit freezed complete , no Button or Fader was reacting ,
even the Power Button didnt worked , the lights where still on.
Onliest solution was to disconnect the Power Cable and reboot
the Computer , since Eucon crashed also.


I tried before another Mix Unit from a friend ( the silver V2 version)
with Eucon 2.61 and PT 9.06 HD on my computer for more then 3 weeks
and never had this symptom.
Since i bought my own Artist Mix (black) only 4 days ago ,
and had theese crashes 2 times since then
i ask if it is maybe a faulty unit i bought or if it is software related ,
i.e. a Problem with the PT or the Eucon version.

very embarassing .

Onliest solution:
Close Protools ,
unplug Power-cable from Artist-Mix
Power on again Artist Mix
reconnect with Eucontrol
(needs few Minutes, sometimes a Computer reboot necessary)
Start Protools again.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SHOWSTOPPER !!!!

Does anybody has seen a "freezed" Artist Mix
or is it a faulty unit???????

with the simple task as a
fader unit for my AUX-inputs while recording it fails

any feedback welcome

(btw. i did already all troubleshooting like
repairing permissions etc...)

Had the same problems two month ago. I am on an iMac with Lion and ptX. Tried all suggestions from here and elsewhere, even bought a mac airstation only for the artist mix - nothing worked. Gave it back. It is a drag...

Firstly, the newest eucon is a great improvement. Make sure you update if you haven't already. Secondly, artist controller freezes are almost 100% related to your network. It took me 6 months to get my network to a place where I don't see freezes. I just configured me network - test it. Configured me network - test it until the freezes stopped. I really have limited networking knowledge. Someone with a strong networking skill set would probably be able to solve the networking puzzle in an hour. Btw I ended up having to go with dynamic I.p. addressing.

We had the same problem (Mix froze every 5-10 minutes and you had to unplug the power and after a restart assign the surface again). Turned out that the unit was faulty. Swapped it out and everything worked.
