Default Maximum length for Adat Light Pipe ? Anyone.

Do any of you have a clue. Also. What about optical s/pdif?

Rating of the single mode fiber?
Are these diode generated pulses?

Thanks,

Lightpipe's maximum length is 10 meters according to the spec. I don't know the max length for Toslink (optical S/PDIF). It's probably about the same.

Are you sure that they're single mode? I would think it's a multimode cable. Usually single mode is used only for longer distances (such as km or miles). Don't know the rating, but it's 1mm plastic fiber.

LEDs produce visible red light for S/PDIF, and it LOOKS red coming out the ADAT interface.

You ask tough questions, Shag.... Are ya building an optical converter or what?

No Larry. It was this Eagle catalog that gave me the idea.

Tascam's new DA 78 w/ lightpipe card. Keeping the mic cables short and the A/D's near the pres....but ten feet? That is down right deflating.

uh, 10 METERS = 33 feet

I don't think that's a serious limitation.

Did I say ten feet? Anyhow. You still think this is multi mode?

Maybe a little extra spit on the polish would get me the distance (I was thinking along the lines of 802.2 or something)

Where are those cold war widgets when you need em?
