That would be 2.1 -- L-C-R connected to a sub would be 3.1

Quality connectors and nice and flexible but robust cable. I also like the wide variety of colors (via custom ordering) for helping keep stuff more organized.

Thanks! Great Cable at a good price!

Genelec fan here too, and they are made in Finland.

Yes, chances are if you buy a pair of 8x50 you may find that you don't even need a sub. Then if you do, adding a 7000-series sub to the system is a walk in the park (and they can be daisy-chained for really big rooms such as a movie theater).

5x 8040 and a 7060 here.

Way too rich for my pocketbook!

Here is a well recorded semi-pro set of monitors that many folks seem to like. https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Professio...077NHM2K6?th=1

Note thats $199 per monitor, so $398 plus tax total.

They might hiss a bit if you crank volume on them, but many will at this price point.

The LF -3dB cut off on these is 45Hz which should capture well the range of a bass guitar, and they just sound pretty good which helps you playing along with and mixing with other instruments and vocals. But as always be careful with room placement. The internal bass amp on these is ~50W and typical for this price point, Genelec and similar will have more powerful amps (~150W) and more rigid housing to handle that power, but they cost a lot more. These are a great place to start... and the folks I know who got them (or the earlier generation) as their first monitors thought they were great.

Edit: don't forget you'll need two of 1/4" TRS male to 1/4" TRS male, or 1/4" TRS male to XLR male, cables as well (these monitors have both TRS or XLR inputs).

If you are used to playing live or practicing with a bass with a powerful bass amp you might be a little disappointed with any reasonably priced DAW monitors. You might do stuff like play to backing tracks in headphones while also splitting your bass off to your current amp/practice amp (and not monitoring the the recorded Bass via Pro Tools) or use say a stage monitor speakers to just monitor the bass through (esp. while playing with amp sim plugins in your DAW) while other signals go out to your main output monitors.
I went to Guitar Center today and listened to some monitors in a room about the size my stuff is in. I ended up trading in a bass that I didn’t play as much and got a pair of JBL 305 MKII’s on sale for $109 each and pair of 10 ft. Balanced 1/4” TRS male to male XLR cables $22 each.

'Corrected'

Good for you. It should get you close to 50Hz range and below that you would need a serious sub anyway

They got you on the cables, sadly. Standard GC practice. Those should have been no more than $15/each (mogami/Neutrik). If you can, return the $218 you spent and check with one of a million cable makers. (Blue Jean Cable and “World’s Best Cable”/“WBC” do good work and both can be found on Amazon)

I read that as $109 for each speaker.

I'm also a fan of Blue Jean cables. Last ones were a bunch of 75 ohm BNC MADI and word clock cables. Got a whole set made in bright orange in lovely Belden 75 ohm cable, to differentiate them from other cables. Their workmanship is superb.

Yes, that is correct ($109 per speaker). Price wise they didn’t get me on the cables as their Mogami cables at $70+ was too high for me. I bought Livewire Essenential 10 foot cables for about $20 each. I would like to know where BScout got Mogami cables for $15. I went to Blue Jean Cables and saw where their 1/4” TRS to XLR cables were Canare which were high noise rejection but also higher capacitance which effects the higher frequencies. I used Canare once for guitar cables and didn’t like the tone as much as Mogami as I could hear the difference on some guitars (sounded duller to me). I made my own Mogami guitar instrument cable and still use it with great results for 8 years now I admit I have not looked into cables to carry just signal for speakers beyone speaker cables for high power output to my bass cabs which the main thing I have to consider is cable conductor size. For bass I use no smaller than 12 awg but on my largest 2 x 15 cab I use 10 awg no longer than 5 foot (higher current carrying for better low end).
