Default Best vocal pre,$600 and below=your opinion here

Okay,I'm looking for the best single channel vocal mic pre at the $600 and below mark.Does not need to have a digital out or have a tube.It just needs to sound more than marginally better than the DIGI pres on my 002 for vocals. To those who replied to my original thread,I appreciate your comments and will take stock.I know I might be beating the same horse if the converters on the DIGI pres are really the issue, but it never hurts to ask.Comments?

I was in the same boat as you recently, so I got a True Systems P-SOLO from my local shop for $500 (it goes for $600 on sweetwater). I'm still getting to know it, but it's a simple transparent preamp. I've read it's comparable to the Grace 101. This is my first decent preamp, so I can't compare to anything else yet. Just offering another option.

i'm not sure how it is on vocals but in general i have heard good things about this summit preamp

it's 30bucks more over your budget but i'm sure you'd be able to pull that together if needed

i've also heard good things about the FMR Audio RNP but i'm not sure about on vocals

that is 2 channels for 475

I use a PreSonus Eureka and I love it. Right around $500.
