Default HELP! - 002 Causing System To Crash w/ New ASUS MoBO

I recently installed the new P4C800 Deluxe MoBo. Everything is running great except Pro Tools. Win XP recognizes the 002 as new Hardware, but when I try to reinstall the driver, it causes my computer to crash.

I've tried completely uninstalling Pro Tools LE and the driver, and then reinstalling them. BUT as soon as it tries to load the new driver, the system crashes again.

Anyone with this MoBo having these issues, or have any ideas on what settings I can adjust in order to correct this problem. I'm in the middle of mixing down audio for a client, and I'm dead in the water right now!

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry, I'm really in desperate need so I'm bumping this back up to the top.

I did do a basic reinstall of WinXP without a hitch, but by 'clean' install do you mean having the operation system completely reinstalled (i.e. everything in the Windows directory getting wiped)?

I'm having this EXACT same problem right NOW! I just came on to post the same topic. I just bought a brand new top-of-the-line Sony Vaio on the same day I bought Pro Tools Digi 002. I don't understand what needs to be done here.

I have a computer with the Asus P4C800 Deluxe and it has been very good with the 001, but I did have to remove "Max Sound" from the startup menu to get PTLE to work without any buffer errors. Since then I haven't had a single buffer error, except pushing the system on a Davec test, which is normal.

I just received a 002r last week and will be able to check it on my P4C800 system, as soon as I can get a copy of PTLE 6.1 XP, which should be less than 2 weeks.

On the AMD side of things, I think Phil had to get a new firewire card to make his original 002 work with the Asus A7N8X. I would be disappointed if the Asus P4C800 onboard firewire was not compatible with the 002r, but it could be an issue. If that is the case, then a new PCI Digi-compatible firewire card may be required. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would think this has been a common problem for all those who have bought a new PC with all the "bells & whistles" and tried to install the 002 system. I emailed tech support and won't get a response for 3 days - but I hope that they'd have a complete trouble-shooting walkthrough put together by this time, based on prior complaints.

I decided to write to them as well. Although I doubt they have a solution, I hope that if enough users complain, that this issue will be addressed in the form of a patch or a new device driver.

*sigh* Until then I had to build out my old computer, again, and will have to continue to use that. Unfortunately this was very expensive experiment with going with new technology as apposed to what is listed in the Capabillity List. But, honestly, the 845/850 chipset is outdated, it would be a good business move, for them, to address this issue before they get a lot of upset customers on their hands.
