Just to let you know you're not alone. I bought BFD last week, I have read the manual from cover to cover. I am not wiz at engineering, but I'm not exactly a novice either....I had heard lots of good things about BFD, and so far I think it's the worst thing I have ever seen. I can't record the pre recorded grooves into pro tools. The manual says you can drag and drop them but that doesn't work.... I find it far easier to make up grooves using sample tank.

I have also tried to sync my electric midi kit to run BFD instead of using the midi controller....whihc is something that should be capable of being done through the advanced tab...guess what no jot there either.

One of my supper knowledgable engineer friends is going to have a peep at it this week. If he manages to shed any light I'll let you know.

At the time of sending this email I wish I had not traded in my boss dr880 towards BFD

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I personally love BFD. It's feature rich and no more complicated that any other worthwhile drum suite.

The midi grooves should be drag-n-drop. You just have to hold down the ctrl key down then click and drag a groove onto your instrument track. Be sure you have ProTools set to grid mode for easier placement.

As for connecting midi devices, my BFD has always defaulted properly - whether with keyboards or with electronic drums. If you do need to tinker with settings, you can easily make BFD 'learn' your midi settings with the 'Learn' function in dialog box that opens with the little piano keyboard symbol. Click 'learn' for each sound in BFD and hit your electronic drum.

By itself? No.

In conjunction with Drumagog? Yes.
