Default BOARD TECH NEEDED to service Amek Matchless board

I'm looking for a service tech to recap, clean, replace/fix pots etc.

Basically someone that can do full maintenance on my Matchless. I might want to do some upgrades as well. I'm about 25 minutes east of downtown LA.

Does anyone know how much something like this would cost me?

I'm only running 16 channels out of my digi 002 so i might just spend the most to perfect the first 16 channels, the master module, and maybe calibrate and fix the first 16 meters.

pm me here or email me at [email protected]

Thanks
Danny

Danny ,
Sorry if I can only answer the pricing question..
As far as I remember the Matchless is somewhat similar to the Angela in general construction.
Here in Toronto, a channel would be ~~ can $ 400-600 to fully clean and upgrade. (for an Angela)
Post on GS for LA techs !

best of luck..

Really that much? That would be way more than the board is worth. I did post on GS and tape op but so far no luck. At this point i just want a recap and general cleanup. Thanks!

Well..put it this way;
Caps and resistors are readily available and cheap. Getting special pots, banks/rows of switches can be the highest cost of an overhaul. There is limited supply on most console specific items.
And than, there is your tech dude. I'm not familiar with your area, but here in TO you'll find techs as low as $50/hour ..right up to $250/hour ( 24/7 emergency, on the spot repairs)
Now..taking the rail out, test it, unmount components, resolder new ones, test it..I'd estimate 3-4 hours. Per module.
That's how I arrived my above guesstimate.

good luck,
andrew

Danny:are there any other studios in your area that you know folks at? if you know other engineers that you trust, you could always go with their reccomendations, or they may simply surprise you and tell you that they know how to do that kind of work and you might be able to contact them out for a lower price on your friendship to help you out.

Otherwise, try contacting local music stores, speak with engineers you don't know at other studios and get their suggestions, and you should be off to a good start. Remember though, that you want someone that knows what they are doing and not a hobby tech that will mess up your board too, so you get what you pay for. goodluck
