Default Music Production Toolkit 2 and PT9?

I'm considering the upgdrade to PT9, I am on PT 8.something now, with MPT2. I see that there is an upgrade offer for the MPT2 to CPTK, but it's a lot of cash, and I really don't need more tracks and that stuff.. What I need is Smack, TL Space and Hybrid, the stuff that I have already bought in MPT2. If I upgrade to PT, can I still install these from MTP2, or is the expensive CPTK the only way to get them into PT9? I have so many projects lying around with those plug-ins, I really can't do without them

Thanks

No, you don't need CPTK2. IN fact it doesn't even come with those plugins. You already own them so you would just need to download the MPTK2 installer for V9 and re-insall. be aware though that there is a problem with the installer when installing structure LE. I am still waiting on an update to the installer that i was told would be soon. But who knows how soon.

when you buy PT9 you get MPTK2 installer update

when running this update you just need to remember to uncheck the MP3 option

which is free in PT9 anyway

Thanks so much! Then I guess I should get my ass in gear and get PT9. I use Reason for sampling, so Structure isn't that big of a deal really.
Cool!!!

I'm in the same situation as "Tuftstudio" with my LE set up. . .

Does the above mean that if you don't uncheck the mp3 option, the installer won't put in the rest of the MPTK2 content ?

I have MPTK2 and upgraded to 9. The 'old' installer required PT8 to be installed in order to run. So those starting from scratch with a fresh PT9 install couldn't use it to add the plugins from the toolkit. The track expansion option, as well as the mp3 option, is obsolete (they're included in PT9).

The 'new' installer simply is a single installer for the bundled plugs that does NOT require PT8 to be installed. It's just a convenience, as the separate installers are also located elsewhere.

I uninstalled PT8 and installed PT9. That process didn't touch the bundled plugs (smack, dinr, etc). They were still there and all work just fine.

Only if I reformatted and/or reinstalled the OS, then PT9, would I need the new MPTK2 installer.

Since I didn't use the new installer I can't say how it behaves. If it indeed has a checkbox option for the mp3 (and track expansion) I would uncheck those first. Hope this helps.

Since the assets are on your iLok I would deep six the MPTK installer and just down load the latest versions of those particular plugs from Avid.

Which is exactly what the 'new' installer is, in one convenient package.
