Help! \"Session is saved on a volume set to \'Transfer\' only\"
Need help asap - have a session to finnish tomorrow and suddenly can't access files on my external hard drives(!)
Mac Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5, OS 10.4.9 1. ProTools 7.3.1 opens up fine. 2. When I click on a a PTLE session file on *either* of my hard drives it brings up the following message: "This session is saved on a volume set to 'Transfer' only. If permitted, set the volume(s) in question to 'P' (Playback) or 'R' (record) in the Workspace. Otherwise, choose OK to save a copy of this session and its media to a valid playback volume. The session copy will automatically open from the chosen location." 3. When I click 'OK' as it requests and try to save a copy it tells me that the chosen file is "not a valid playback volume" 4. I rebooted the computer, hard drives and my Digi 002. Same thing happens. I should be able to open the session without any of this business as I have in the past. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS SUDDENLY HAPPENING. YESTERDAY IT WAS FINE. I"VE NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF MESSAGE BEFORE. PLEASE HELP. Thank you |

Re: Help! "Session is saved on a volume set to 'Transfer' only"
Windows Vista SP2. ProTools Mpowered 8. No problems till today. WTF?
I am horrified. Tried this 'workspace" solution and it wouldn't change to R. It says "this is not a valid audio volume". How in the heck did this happen? I have been recording with this drive for over a year...and out of nowhere I suddenly am told (by the computer) that the C drive is for transfer only. I saw another post suggesting Re-formatting. I have 600g of software and audio files on this drive. I have to start over? There MUST be an alternative to reformatting? Does anyone know what CAUSES this change in my drive (to transfer only)? I worked on a song this morning........and now I'm trying to open file as usual and all this starts happening. Help! Pleeze? |
