Default Argh!! upgraded to 6.1 and everything works except recording

I installed the DV Toolkit version of 6.1. Everything works fine except recording. If i don't allocate disk space (my partitions are 25GB), the system stops responding and I need to restart Pro-Tools. However I find that it consistently leaves an unreadable 1.98GB audio file in the Audio Files folder. If I allocate 10 minutes disk space for example the system will record after about 7-8 seconds wait and this improves with smaller allocation times. I did not have this problem with 5.3.2.

Intel 845 chipset. 512mb 333DDR Ram, Northwood 2.8 P4 CPU, 2 internal drives, one with the system and one audio drive with 4 25GB NTFS partitions

If you have a Digi001, look if your cable to your breakoutbox is fixed properly.
I had the same problem...
..with 5.3.1

Are the harddrives running with RAID?

No raid, just 4 25gb partitions shown as drives e: f: g: h: , My system drive is c: with a partition d: for SFX etc. Curiously i had this same problem when I first installed XP and was fussing with OS reinstalls and partions. I think 5.3.2 became confused with drive mapping at that time. However I reinstalled everything from scratch and all was well until now with this upgrade to 6.1.

Tell us which FireWire card you have and if it shares an IRQ whith anything else in your system -- most definately sounds like a hardware issue.

No firewire card or firewire drive. Just two ATA drives(this is an acceptable way to go and may offer better performance over firewire drives re: DIGI). One system drive and one audio drive. The audio is a Hitachi 120 mb/4 partitions NTFS w/8 meg ram. Remember, this setup worked perfectly with 5.3.2 and Intel Application accelerator is used

You must have a FireWire card.. otherwise how the heck do you hook your 002 up to the computer

the 845 Intel MOBO has 3 on board firewire ports using the VIA VT6306 Fire II controller which uses the Oxford chipsets. Nothing on DIGI's website about onboard controllers, but let me reiterate, 5.3.2 worked flawelessly with 32 tracks going into record instantly. All I've done is install the upgrade to 6.1 (I need the DV Toolkit).

sorry, can't think of anything offhand, but have you tried uninstalling and doing a fresh install?
