.m4a will no longer import after 2023.30 update
Hi, newbie here that stupidly updated her software now when I pull up "import audio" .m4a's will highlight when clicked but no option to add & convert. .wav's are fine. Using 2021 MacBook pro w/Apple M1pro chip, Monterey 12.6.4 helpppp? Thank you:)

Pro Tools behaviour and performance with importing and exporting m4a and mp3 is erratic at best. I can't find any specific release notes regarding problems or fixes with 2023.3 but my best suggestion to get you going quickly is to convert with an external program - I use MediaHuman Audio Converter. It's free and simple -
https://www.mediahuman.com/en23/ Less convenient than dragging and dropping on the timeline, but more convenient than being stuck. Dominic

Yup, you're right - mp3 still imports fine, m4a doesn't register in the import dialog at all.

I thought this was one of the issues they actually fixed. I haven't tried it yet myself but seem to remember seeing that they'd addressed it. Perhaps not.

Really??!?? 9 updates and more than 9 months later and this has STILL NOT BEEN FIXED??? No wonder so many people HATE Avid and ProTools. This is BS. FIX IT!!!!
