Default Just looking for others idea\'s on keeping notes...

Hello All.
I've been recording a band this past month and things went great, but one thing that I wish I had done from the begining is take better notes to make going from session to session easier and quicker.
So my question is: What are some of the things you do to take notes, remind yourself of setting or levels, or just make it so you don't have to repeat things over and over as you mixdown subsequent songs?
Any recommendation would be great. I finished the CD and it came out good, I'm just looking for ways to make the process more efficient in the future.
Thanks,
Vlad

I use a text editor (BBEdit Lite) to make notes during a session. I keep the window open in the bottom right of the right screen so I can quickly access it when I need it during a session. I store this text file in the same folder with the PT session. You could use TextEdit (Mac) or NotePad (Windoze) or even Word.

When recording, I list musician names, instrument name, and volume settings.
During mixdown, I'll make comments about plug in settings, and volume settings. I also make notes to remind myself of what I still have to do, if I leave the session for a day.

I used to keep all these notes on paper, and much more. ProTools allows you to add a lot of notes (like track names) that used to go on paper. Having it all electronic keeps the paper from getting seperated from the PT session.

If you double-click the name of a track a box appears that will allow you to keep some notes (you can also click under the track name on the mixer screen and write). It's limited, but it's usually enough for me.
