Default 002R losing connection

So, my 002 rack just started acting up (perfect timing as well, since I really need to get these songs mixed). I'm in the middle of mixing, and all of the sudden, it starts making this clicking noise, the same noise it makes when you first turn it on. Pro Tools then tells me it lost connection with the 002. This will happen numerous times, to the point where I can't get any work done at all. I thought it might be the firewire cable, but it makes that clicking sound even when the cable isn't attached. I don't understand, it was working perfectly fine just last night. Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Do a search for "power harness". It's well documented here. Then contact Digi. They'll send you a new one. It's a set of wires and connectors; sort in a "Y" configuration. It's a breeze to install on the rack 002. Takes longer to remove all the screws on the casing than to actually replace the harness.

There have been claims by a few that unplugging, cleaning and replugging the existing harness will stat it working again. If it dies at all, it's only temporary. And I don't know what that will do to any warranty. So I'm not advising it. Plan on having them send you one.
