Yes he did answer russ saying that they do plan in the future, to support aax somewhere down the line, but v9, 64 bit and the new authorization method is the priority and that what was coming out in march, not aax support.

http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home...-concerns.html

64 bt, v9, no ilok authorization all in march 0:25 to 0:34 no mention of aax in that list.

At 0:49 he says that they will definitely support aax native but they don't have a firm time frame of when.

So I don't know if you're referring to that interview or something else, but I'd take the interview from the link I gave you over anything else. Cause I'm pretty sure he would have made sure to know what he was talking about knowing who was interviewing him.

Avid doesn't even have all of it's own plugins updated to AAX.
Since the RTAS and TDM versions of Waves still work fine I don't see the problem.

Yes, exactly.. It's not absolutely necessary to have it right now. I'm sure it will come i along in due course.

I don't get what the big fuss is about AAX plugins. Right now PT is 32bit and we wouldn't see the full benefit of AAX until its 64bit . . . .

AAX plugs load faster and consume less memory, even now. That's why people want them to replace RTAS.

+1 It's surprising on a big session how much quicker it will load up if you have AAX instead of RTAS

Given the limited availabilty of AAX right now, I always end up with mixed RTAS/AAX sessions and really don't see any difference in load times.

I don't find I can't live without something that didn't exist a year ago.
