Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
So back to my question: which app? Last posts are about a personal monitoring app for musicians.

Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
Valentyn: i am not sure what you mean by that, I only want one app that is full featured and in the best case allows for user rights and also offers a smaller version for use on a smartphone. Just as the "Master Fader 4" from mackie offers.
My main tasks are: Tweaking Delays and speakers throughout the venue Giving musicians the personal mix feature RTA on the device for quick monitor setup on my own. Patch, Gain and Volume of channels. ( being able to find and fix patching mistakes is so much easier using an iPad) What i can wait for a 2.x release: FX editiding and patching Scenes and shows Media Playback control Protools control As I said, in my opinion just copy the Mackie app, they have done a fantastic job. The idea of view groups for example is terrific And since I have not much hope for selling the console at a decent price I am still willing to beta test and help as much as I can |

Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
I'm just waiting to hear back on a trade, but if we can't make it happen I'll listen to offers on my stage racks.

Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
Karel Noon, what I mean is:
1. Musicians need a mix control. This small app needs to be suitable for mobile phones, not just tablets. 2. As an engineer, you need everything VENUE has (more or less). Everything won't fit into the phone - too much features on a relatively small screen. So it makes sense to have this being separate apps, isn't it? Different use case, different features, different target device(s). Yes, it doesn't actually change anything, but I'm just explaining my point of view. |

Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
Valentyn, I partly agree. However, as musicians are also using iPads to read music or lyrics on stage, the iPad app would be the higher priority, I think.

I mean musicians need their app to work on both.

Re: Venue/S3L-X iPad app
I am no programmer so I don't know how Mackie did it, but they only have one app, that changes its design and what is displayed wether you open it up on an iPad or on an iPhone.
On the pad you have full access, including the RTA, which is one of the key features I think On the phone you can only change snapshots and levels and mute, so not to much information on a small screen At the beginning they also had two different apps, but in the end this is the better way. You only have to take care of updates for one app, your files are compatible, and with their concept of user rights you are pretty safe even if a musician uses an iPad, as not to screw up your other mixes |
