Default clip lights not lighting when HPF is engaged ??

Using 003 console's 4 onboard pre's

wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

when a track is record armed and there is input coming in - if the HPF is engaged on any of the 4 pre's then the clip ight will not light up on the incoming track, no matter how hard the level is pushed, although the source is obviously distorted.

Not sure what you mean by HPF, could you be looking at the monitor level and not the input level while listening back?

the High Pass Filter

the ones that come standard on the 4 digi pre's on the 003

Here's the scenario:

-Mic plugged in to channel 1 of 003
-Audio Track in PT set up with channel 1 as input
-Arm Record for that track
-Set gain for channel 1 while speaking through mic
-Track will clip (and clip light WILL show) if gain applied is too high
-If the High Pass Filter switch on this pre or any of the 4 digi pre's is engaged
then even if the gain is pushed too high the meter will light to is full green/yellow section but the clip light WILL NOT light up.
-Take the HPF out of the circuit and the clip light will come on as normal ;(

it happens on any session.

Any help would be appreciated as I know this never used to be a problem (or maybe never really noticed it) - just wonder if any one else has the same issue??

Also - could a moderator please move this thread to the "Protools LE Mac Systems: 003, 002, Mbox, 001" forum - I posted in the wrong one as im actually on a Mac Pro

Mac Pro - OS 10.5.5
003 console
7.4 (what ever the latest update is before 8)
no external drives - actually only running straight to system drive (I know, I know slap my wrist)

Sorry I have the 003 rack w/ a PC and don't experience the same problem. Maybe the filter on the console has some kind of gain control, do the levels stay the same before peaking?

I can't replicate this behavior on my 002r, but I'm curious...

1. With the record ready PT track assigned to output to a master fader, does the clip light on the master show the same behavior with the clip light?

2. Are you using the peak-hold metering option? Is the behavior the same with both settings?

Just tested with my 003 and you are right.
It almost looks like a brickwall limiter.
Doesn't worry me much though.

oh good, so I am not the only one :)

I wonder if Digi might like to chime in on this?

Could it be something that will be fixed by a PTLE update or a firmware upgrade on the 003?
