transfering files to DP
I am helping a friend track her basic acoustic guitar and vocal tracks in Pro Tools. I will need to transfer my files to another studio that is working with Digital Performer. That studio's engineer suggested that I might need digitranslator. Another friend said I can just save as soundesigner II files. We are trying to save $$ on her project (thus the intial tracking with me) and would like to avoid having to buy more software. Will the soundesigner files work? If yes, what am I missing if I did the transfer with digitranslator?

Re: transfering files to DP
I've been doing thsi with a client for about 6 months now. From Protools, once you have finished tracking and editing, consolidate the tracks to one region per track, select the consolidated files, and export selected from the regions audio menu. Select SDii, along with the appropirate parameters for bit depth and sample rate. copy these files to a removable drive or burn to disc.
the DP user can simply import them into DP as they would any other SDii file. |
