M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R and Pro Tools 2019.12
Hi.
I have just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now upgraded from Pro Tools 10 to Pro Tools 2019.12. I found that to get my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R to work with Windows 10 I had to go back a driver, but I did get it running. I have two hard drive partitions, one for Windows 7 (so that I can still access existing Pro Tools 10 projects) and one for Windows 10. On the Pro Tools 10 (Windows 7) install I see that as well as the existing M-Audio option, a new version of the M-Audio is now listed (with an "ASIO" suffix). On the new install of pro Tools there is only one option showing for the M-Audio (the one with the ASIO suffix). This option is not letting me change any settings from Pro Tools. However, when I go into Device Manager only the original M-Audio is listed. Can anybody please shed any light on what might be going on here? Many thanks, T |

Re: M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R and Pro Tools 2019.12
This may be a tough one as the Fast Track is an older piece that isn't supported(and M-Audio isn't known for great drivers). The only thing I can suggest is(under both versions of Windows) to make sure that Sound Properties are set so Windows is using the ob-board sound card as its "Default Playback Device". You also may need to check and restore some system tweaks that PT needs(especially to disable Power Management on all USB ports, which some Windows updates have been known to reset).

Re: M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R and Pro Tools 2019.12
Thanks for the reply Dave.
At this point I have managed to get the thing working. There are far less bus options available than on my Pro Tools 10 install (do I simply add these in?) and I had to rename all the inputs etc. for it to look the same within the PT environment. But, it does pick up from all eight mics so for now, seems to be OK. I will run it for a bit and see how stable it proves to be. All this upgrading is costing me an arm and a leg so I am a bit loathed to spend more money on replacing a perfectly good interface! Cheers, Terry |
