Can I open a Pro Tools 2019 session with Pro Tools 11?


I have to send some session to a buddy that uses PT 11

Yes. But any new features introduced after 11 will be gone when opened in 11. The user will get a warning when opening.

So if you want to be 100%, make sure you don't use any features that came out after 11.

Also remember if you open newer session and save it with older version the new features might (will?) be wiped out and the new version might (won't?) see them any longer

Wouldn’t that be a nice feature if a PT session file could somehow retain that info. Not sure how easily that could be done without writing an update for every previous ver of PT

It would require rewrite of older versions to be aware of new features, so perhaps not a chance
