I need help with licenses !

Hey guys and gals!

I bought pro tools 9 in October, but did not have a suitable computer to run it on, so I waited and eventually got my new Mac. Then found out that I could receive a free upgrade to pro tools 10, which I did so.

So here is the problem, on the iLok website it said I had to surrender my pro tools 9 license to get the pro tools 10 one. And I, like an idiot... just flat out deleted it not knowing what I was actually doing.

I have no idea about how to get it back or if I have to purchase a support plan or anything. I would appreciate any help on the manner.

If you registered the pro tools 9 in your account
You then gave them ilok ID, So now if you tell avid that you deleted it they can access your ilok ID. History and see that you actually deleted it
They will then replace your PT 9 asset on your account
If you in fact, did delete it it should not be a problem

The only way I have found to contact Avid is through their support plans.

But I did find this.

Is that what I need to get to retrieve my licenses?

They have single incident phone support, but myself being in Australia, I cannot use it.

If you upgraded from 9->10 you Upgraded PT 10 license will still run PT9.

Hi,

That's not his problem, he needs a 9 ilok auth to surrender when he upgrades to 10.

As it happens I was able to surrender any version from 7.2 to 9

To the original op, it might be easier to buy another pt9 ilok auth, maybe in the buy and sell section.

I have Pro Tools HD9 Bundle including PTHD8, PTHD9 and PT9
If I'll upgrade to PT10 it'll just add PTHD10 licence to the bundle
will it be possible to use PTHD8 after that?
can't find any info about. only that if I have PTHD9 it'll be possible to use both but what about 8?
Sometimes I need 8 to use on old G5

PT10 HD bundle is 9, 9 HD, 10, 10 HD. No 8 HD

Bam you got it! Where is this 'Buy & Sell' section to purchase a new authorisation ? If that isn't possible... would that Avid support plan be the next best thing?..

john neg : that's exactly my situation. I did buy an HD8 --> HD10 BUT, i still need my HD8 licence so, before doing the ilok "thing" i would like to be sure that i can save my HD8 licence somewhere.

I have the HD8 called backup on a sepate ilok but its impossible to lauch pro tools 8 with it ... what is this backup for then ?

You can't have the same asset on two different iLoks.
