Default Cant open session from PTHD8

My PT9 cant open a session that was saved on a PTHD8
It get stuck on restoring some tracks.

My PTHD8 is a HD2 at the moment in XP, still my main work machine

My PT9 is a test machine ( as it is the first time in 10year I deal with a new OS ) running PT9 with an asio driver card.

So ..I cant open any of my work sessions on PT9..they all get stuck on restoring some specific tracks. These track is either mono or stereo tracks, only having EQ37 as a pluggin

I can see in the windows processes that PT9s use of RAM stop changing which means I guess PT9 crashes when trying to import these tracks

Can anyone help me

Regards
Christian

Hold down the Shift Key while Opening (Loading) the Session, this will disable all of the Plug-Ins and the Session should Open.

Exactly what I would have suggested. If that doesn't help, then you need to post a Sandra report so we have a clue what hardware is in use. Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!

Back to this problem...

Hitting Shift while opening the session , disables all pluggins and yes opens the session. But when trying to opening the pluggs, by either activate them or move them to next slot, crashes PT9

I am speculating..what is happening here, is that PT is trying to op open the pluggs as RTAS, and after trying this manouver several times, i realize it seems like it is the Waves 8 pluggs that crashes PT.

I wounder. could this be a Waves problem, or that PT9 is not compatible with Waves 8...

While looking at the waves compatible plan I wonder if I have interpreted this sheet wrong, that as I have installed my PT9HD with a ASIO card, PT 9 is a "LE" system and I should have installed Waves7 instead...

Could I be right with my speculations, or is Waves8 compatbile with my PT ?

or should I do a Sandra report here.

I must say that all news/changes with PT9 have been quite confusing for me...

Waves 8 should work fine with PT9. Could it be some other plugin?

No, its a plain 5.1 post session.
Basicly Eq3´s and a few renesance verbs on some busses

Dialogue bus is the only one that have a mixture of digi and Waves.

I dont use lots of pluggs,I am quite old fashionsed in my style.

I will go through the optimize suggestions one more time...

Did optimize suggestions one more time, no difference.
But, I have now come down to the fact that it is NOT any problem activating the Digi pluggs..it IS the Waves pluggs that crashes PT will enabling them.

So..what should I do..Sandra report...or go back to Waves 7 and try that one..

Christian, I had the same problem with a session with TDM-instances only (originally a 8.0.3 Mac session) when opening in 9.0.1. I'm on PC, but your PT9 was on Mac? Anyway, I was aware that these session may be too large to handle by my HD2 system when coming from a HD3. Trouble was the waves plugs (from the gold bundle) - not other plugs. The loading freezed on the track BEFORE the first waves-instanciated track. So opening the session without waveshell (now version 8 rev3) - deactivated the tracks containing waves plugs (keeping them as TDM), convert almost every other plug to RTAS for gaining TDM-power - save session, then open again with waveshell in the plugin folder. Then open the System Usage window to monitor the load on the different chips - then activate those tracks with wavesplugs again. Sure I could convert the wavesplugs to RTAS when inactive also, but this was test-and-try, and it worked.

Halstein, Hello from Sweden to dear Norway.

No, I am fully on PC
My session came from HD and trying to open it on a PT9 with ASIO driver card..which means my PT licence will become LE in that machine.

Its a test machine because I am not happy to leave XP after 10 fantastic stabile XP years.

Your procedure seems very complex...could I phone you next week to ask you some questions about how you have installed your waves pluggs.

After some email with Waves support I realize that all my waves optimisations for "european machines" differs from what I have done before and I am very confused.

I think I must call Waves next week, because I realize that I cant even open some of the waves pluggs in a plain new session..it just crashes PT9.

Its very frustrating, I am almost down to 20 hours of mess with PT9 and Waves8..crash, crash, crash what ever I try.

Christian

Hi again Christian.

I think you're in the ballpark concerning that "european" case!!
When I contacted Waves, I got a quick response to try the following (I was suprised that THIS could matter - but nothing surprises anymore ):

Quote from mail:

Hi;

Please try taking these steps to resolve the issue

Go to: Start menu>Control Panel>Region and Language>and click on the Formats tab.
Make sure that the first language in the pull down menu is set to English (US).
Click on Additional Settings and make sure that you have the following settings:

Decimal symbol: . (dot)

Digit grouping symbol: , (comma)

List separator: , (comma)

Negative number format: -1.1

Please let me know how it works out.

Thanks

Check it out, and good luck. Please contact me off list at [email protected]
