Default faderport with german XP

Hi,

i write from germany and I really want to know, if i'm the only one with this problem. I really would like to use the faderport from presonus. Some Parts like the transport works after installing, but the especially the motor fader won't. My assumption is, that Pro Tools or Windows has got a problem with the spelling of the usb device. When you select the hui-device with pro tools, you can see, that Pro tools is not able to show "usb-audiogerät" correctly, cause the "ä" could not be displayed in the right way - do you know, what I mean? Is there another person out there with the same problem and is there a solution available?

Best regards

Grille

Thumbs down Re: faderport with german XP

hi
i'm french and i have the exact same problem. it seems there's a problem with faderport, pro tools and the european version of windows xp sp3.. i contacted presonus immediately after buying the faderport, reinstalled windows, did firmware updates, plugged in, plugged out, ppfffffffffff they waited several weeks before telling me this. they're a joke and i HATE them.

oh, and when i politely told a customer about this on their "support forum", i got kicked out. lol

What a bunch of Losers Presonus is... I can't believe they don't give a damn about their EU customers. Increyoble... Ungloublich! I wish there was more I could do to help you guys. Now all we can do is hope they fail as a business, which most poorly run operations are finding these days. It's too bad since it's a handy product and they do make some other nice devices, but who needs their attitude someone else can easily fill the small void they would leave behind. I guess for you guys it's ebay.

One more thought: I was PMing with ein herren aus Deutschland who had this problem and I asked him if it worked with Reaper and he said yes... which is curious and indicates that it is possible that it is related to Digi as well. SOOO Digi Tech guys could you pay attention here and see if you're a part of this. Please show some love to our EU users, and for that matter anyone who may need to do some PT/Faderport work over there.

Wilson - I would be more than happy to help, unfortunately we don't have a Faderport here to test with, so I'm not sure what kind of progress we can make until we somehow get one. Maybe you could talk Presonus into loaning us one for some testing?

Actually, I'll contact them directly and see if I can't get my hands on one...

Wink Re: faderport with german XP

Awesome DTS...I've been in threads with several folks now so it deserves investigation. I've recieved PM from someone in Germany who says the Faderport bug isn't a problem on a Mac Perhaps MS needs to be in the loop since ultimately it appears to be a Win XP language translation bug. Of course MS may be laissez faire about this since the EU has been a bit idiotic about the IE bundling issue.

Question for the EU...how do you download another browser if there isn't one provided in the OS? Sorry I'm OT now.

A curious but interesting problem. Thanks again for looking into this and being sensitive to the fact that PT is all over the world these days.

We're in contact with PreSonus on this and will hopefully be able to make some progress.

I do not have a timeframe yet, but I'm going to be as direct as I can and say that this is not going to be a quick fix and that you shouldn't expect anything for several months.

I'll update this thread as info becomes available.

Hi,

thanks for you replies. I know the other guy in germany - he has tried a british xp-version. And: It works - using the same hardware and drivers!!!

In the meantime i opened a ticket at presonus. That's their answer:

Hi,

We are aware of this language issue and we are working on a fix. As soon as this is available it will be on our site for download.

Know the question is: Who is responsible and has to do the fix/the new driver? Microsoft, Digidesign or Presonus?

@ Digidesign Support: If you would like to have the contact data of the guy from Presonus technical support, just write a message to me - i will forward you the E-Mail.

Best regards,

grille

Grille,
Grusse, I understand you know Stephan, who's been emailing me about this and confirms to me directly that it is a Win XP German version problem. I'm happy to hear that Presonus is responding to your needs.

I'm hoping this will also help Neuromillion with his French version of Win XP.

It will be interesting to see who creates the "FIX"
