Pro Tools M-Powered 8: Challenge / Response?

Hello,

I recently purchased Pro Tools 7.4 and I just upgraded to Pro Tools M-Powered 8 but when I try to boot it up, I get a prompt saying:

This version of Pro Tools M-Powered 8 requires authorization to run. To authorize your computer, please enter a response to the challenge bellow.

Then, the challenge is a bunch of random words that barely mean anything and I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do from there.

Could anyone help me?

M-Powered uses an ilok license for authorization.

Are you possibly holding a modifier key (command) while launching?

Well, the iLok card I am using is for the version 7.4 I purchased; version 8 does not recognize it as valid and says I have to answer the said "outstanding challenge" in order to authorize my iLok.

Your iLok with serial number 0x0-------- has a pending authorization for this software. Most likely, this means that there is an outstanding challenge in the device for which a response has not been entered.

While the pending authorization exists, you may not transfer authorization from the license card to your iLok. Press "Next" to delete the pending authorization or "Cancel" to stop this operation.

What am-I supposed to do with this?

What make you think your Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 licence can authorize Pro Tools M-Powered 8?
You definitly need a Pro Tools M-Powered 8 licence on your iLok.

Yes, that's obvious!
But how do I get such a license?

I was told I was eligible to a free upgrade to M-Powered 8 because I purchased 7.4 the day before 8 was released... and now that I installed the upgrade, the program won't boot-up anymore because of the issue described above.

Can't anyone help me?

(I guess that's what I should have precised first; I really did purchase 7.4 the day before 8 was released... so I should get an authorization to use 8)

I know this doesn't help- but I am experiencing the same thing.
I was eligible for the upgrade and now that I have it I can't use it.

I get the same exact Ilok msg.

I tried contacting Digi support but their support screen email won't go through- it prompts me to create an account- which I already have.- but that's another story.

According to Digi- we are eligible for the free upgrade to PT8.
I am sure you received an email with the authorization and confirmation information.

If someone from DIGI could please assist that would be great.

Hi,

If you log in to your account you should be able to find details of how to activate your PT8. Once you activate that there should be an iLok license for PT8 deposited at iLok.com which you then download to your own iLok and off you go.............hopefully!

If you are referring to the MyDigi account- the downloads are there - but no methods or instructions on how to get the codes to Ilok so that I may download them.
I consider myself pretty sharp and I have scanned practically every inch of the site...I still can't figure it out.
Anyone have and M-powered upgrade success?

Does your MyDigi account have an 'activation code' for the Pro Tools M-Powered 8 upgrade? If so, go to the activation page and enter that activation code, then follow the prompts. Make sure to enter the iLok account name (the name you use when logging in to iLok.com) and not your iLok serial number or something, otherwise the authorization won't go to your account.

OK- then I must have did something out of sequence or something.
When I enter the code in the activation box- it tells me that that code is aleady activated- which is what I oringally did to get the upgrade downloads.

Is there a way to retrigger the activation so that it will send the code to my Ilok account?- I think that may solve my problem as well as the original poster.
