Function keys don't work? Conflict with Max OS?

Hi,

When I am in PT, the function keys do not work as the shortcuts - they seem to function as MacOS shortcuts only. For example F6-F8 are supposed to be the selection tools, but they only work as setting the volume on the laptop and so forth...

Is this because I have a laptop? Can this be fixed?

On a laptop you would normally use the 'fn' key to access the regular functions for the F-keys, you're correct in assuming that becuase it's a laptop those keys default to the Mac OS functions that would normally have their own keys on a full-size keyboard.

Go to your keyboard & mouse settings in system preferences, there's a way to 'switch' the F-keys so that they operate normally for PT etc, and you have to use the 'fn' key to change volume, brightness etc.
