Say you bought the license before the policy change, then in EU courts the purchase time policy is still valid unless you have signed agreement to the change of contract...

Just to be clear, I should point out this line in bold above is also illegal, the law in the EU states "even if the licence agreement prohibits a further transfer, the rightholder can no longer oppose the resale of that copy."

So there is no agreement that can be forced, placed or otherwise made which would prevent the resale of the license in the EU.

This might be a court case some day for Antares. Peoples rights are Peoples rights.

YMMV but to those interested in moving over my transfer over to Ilok has been fine and more than welcome!

I own X but was running Autotune X Wibu license via the Autotune Central. Like many I was affected by the license problems, deactivations and the recall issues between perpetual and licensed versions. I was using a gratis NFR subscription 6 month license of my purchased Autotune X as it was the only way Antares support could get me up and running.

Now Autotune X is Ilok compatible, so one logs in to latest central and fills in Ilok details and an asset appears in ILOK, new X installer 10.5 is then accessible in central and X is back up and running in PT 2024.10 and- so far - no missing settings in the many projects I've opened this week.

Bonus is if you are an Autotune 9 owner this is also upgraded to an X license (not 11).

My NFR disappeared but I didn't need it, just flagging that in case others are using other products in the suite. Also all earlier products that aren't updating to ILOK disappear from Central, but are still on the Antares site account.

I have a different problem.

Well, not a problem per se, because I dropped AT back in the day. But I have licenses of 6/7/8/9 on ilok but not a slightest idea whatever my account would be. Completely forgot while they were off ilok. So probably I cannot even upgrade even if I wanted to throw them a bone.

Only for those who do not want the possiblility of selling the license one day.

Antares moving over to iLok seems more like a trap to prevent people from selling their Antares accounts.

The only way around it now, would be to put the Antares licenses on a separate iLok and sell the iLok account (if one wanted to sell the plugins)

From what it seems (to me anyway), this is Antares's attempt to bury your license and prevent it from moving.

Can I ask, you seem to be promoting Antares here at no cost and hiding the ''potential'' scandal Antares ''might'' be involved in here around their decision to switch people into a non-Transferable iLok license so they can't sell their accounts, meaning, if they do sell their accounts, well now they can't transfer the iLok, which means the plugins get bricked by force.

So my question is, in the event this is a sinister move my Antares, would you support them?
